Julie Malina: Does anybody know where catty-corner comes from? Is there an alternate spelling - kiddy-corner? Dick McQ: Dictionary of American Regional English copyright 1985 lists the following variations on its main entry, catercorner: catacorner, catta-, catter-,catti-,catty-,; rarely caddy-, cally-, caper-, catacorners, cat-cornered, catercorn, catty-corned, catty-cornereds, catty-corner, caty-corner, katter-kornered.
